Kilchattan is a vibrant happy church on the island of Luing, an inner Hebridean island. This church benefits from a strong Christian ethos and is often full with people of all ages who are dedicated and committed members of the church community. Worship in this Church alternates fortnightly with Kilbrandon Church on Seil at 11.30am
Kilchattan Church is very much a family place of worship, and it plays a vital role in the community, as a witness to a modern Christian life.
Some of the 180 residents on the island commute to Oban and some are employed in traditional employment such as fishing and farming of the famous Luing cattle. The island is a mecca for bird watchers and walkers and has a small and steady tourist industry.
The church has a Sunday school, who join the congregation until the after the offertory , when they enjoy fun and learning with youth leaders.
The last Sunday of the month is a family service, with the focus very much on the junior members of the church, Kilchattan Church is a Fairtrade church. Linda Leggett runs the Fair Trade Stall usually on the last Sunday of the month offering a wide variety of Fair Trade items.
Tea/Coffee and biscuits are also served on the last Sunday of the month, where there is a chance to linger on and chat together after worship.
The island is easily accessible with a small ferry, on a short 5 minute journey between the Island of Seil and Luing. There are a number of Readers connected with the church with a commitment from the congregation to explore contemporary worship and the development of ministry.
