Kilbrandon Church: Important message

MESSAGE FROM OUR SESSION CLERK, MARTIN WADDELL:
At an emergency Board meeting at Kilbrandon this evening, we discussed the present situation with the Kilbrandon Church heating.  It is no longer fit to be used, as it has deteriorated to such an extent that continuing to use it may pose a risk to people using the church.  So until further notice we’ll be holding our Kilbrandon Church services at Seil Island Hall, at the usual time of 10am (except for the 23rd April which will be in the church).
This will involve a lot of practical work in getting the hall set up for services each Sunday.  Can I ask you all, therefore, to make a point of turning up for worship at the hall on Sundays 20 minutes before the service is due to start, to help with chairs and other aspects of setting up.
Thanks to all in anticipation of your help and forbearance until this situation is resolved.

Help give a child real hope.

All donations gratefully received to help pay for secondary education in Bemvu, Malawi.

The Global Involvement Group of the Netherlorn Churches has established a Scholarship Fund to pay for the secondary education of a number of students in Bemvu parish. Secondary education is not provided free of charge by the government in Malawi, meaning that many families cannot afford to pay for their children to go to secondary school. For those who can afford some payment, there may be difficult decisions as to which child to send to school, and often the eldest son is chosen. To date, thanks to the generosity of many donors, 20 funds to pay for the education of 20 students have been sent to Bemvu. Although only one donor asked that a girl be sponsored, the Bemvu session has chosen 13 girls among the group of 20 that we have been able to sponsor in 2017. These are across the different prayer houses in the parish of Bemvu, and attend different secondary schools.

When discussing the fund, it was decided that there would not be a one-to-one relationship between any sponsor and any child, but that we would sponsor a group of children. Therefore there will be no personal letters from any child to any individual sponsor. However, we hope we will be able to keep you informed of the progress of the children as we receive reports from Bemvu.

If you would like to contribute to the fund, please send a cheque made out to Kilbrandon and Kilchattan Parish Church, to the assistant treasurer, J.P. Moss, An Isean Eala, Clachan Seil, Oban PA34 4TL. £45 will cover the cost of one child for one year. Please gift aid your donation if you can.
